Voices of Change Volume 1: The Uprising seeks original poetry, prose, artwork, and photography that touches on the themes of revolution, resistance, and resilience. Additionally, works addressing the 2020 sociopolitical climate, police brutality, gentrification, systemic racism, and living in a racialized society are welcomed and encouraged. This is not an exhaustive list, and we welcome out of the box submissions! All submissions must be original and unpublished. Works that have appeared in self-published books are eligible for consideration.
Seventy-five percent of the proceeds from this anthology will be donated to three Black Owned community organizations, chosen due to their commitment to fighting against systems of oppression through political action, cultural awareness, and education. The remainder of the proceeds will be reinvested to support the contributors.
Eligibility: Submissions are open to those who identify as Black, African American, or as a member of the African Diaspora. Contributors under the age of 18 require the consent of a parent or guardian.

- A cover page with the authors name and email. The cover page should be sent as a separate attachment. Do not include your name or other identifying information on the work that you are submitting.
- An artist statement to tell us a bit about yourself.
- Poetry: Five pages maximum
- Prose: Three pages maximum
- Artwork/Photographs: Three high-resolution photographs or artistic renderings. Please include the title and any relevant captions in your submission.

- The genres we publish are fiction, short stories, plays, poetry, non-fiction/creative non-fiction.
- A brief synopsis of the work being submitted
- An artist statement (tell us a bit about yourself and why publishing this project is important to you)

- Fiction: No more than two chapters may be submitted.
- Short Stories: No more than 15 pages may be submitted.
- Poetry: A minimum of ten and up to 20 poems may be submitted, not to exceed 25 pages.
- Plays: Up to three scenes may be submitted.
- Memoir/Creative Non-Fiction/Self-Help/Spiritual: No more than two chapters may be submitted.
